Project: Support of tourism potential of mountain regions in Georgia (Phshav-Khevsureti) as a means of their development.

The project will be conducted in cooperation of Czech organization Agora CE represented by I. Bursikova, the city of Vrchlabi represented by the Mayor Jan Sobotka and Agro Stud Javorie represented by M. Kysel.
The project aims to improve the living standards of the population living in difficult to reach mountain areas in Georgia by helping them to better exploit the potential of sustainable tourism, supporting them in developing services and improving awareness of the region for tourists.
Activities:
• Workshop with locals - identification of sites of interest for tourist and of holy places that must be protected
• Mapping - placing of routes to tourist destinations on the map, defining the holy places
• Preparation texts of all the important places and overall texts describing both valleys, their history and culture, including photographic documentation.
• Preparation of promotional materials - web pages, FB, maps, leaflets, which will contain all available information about the history, culture, customs and nature in both valleys, as well as the possibilities of accommodation, catering facilities and tourist destinations in the area.
• Support of association of small producers of traditional subjects, mountain guides, horse owners, tourist guides, with whom we worked in the previous project, especially in marketing and selling their products
• Seminar for those highlanders, who are interested in opening small family guest house, and for current owners of guest houses - how to keep pensions, what do the tourists expect (experience from the Czech Republic).
• Roundtable of stakeholders – evaluation, further steps to improve the sustainability of tourism in the mountainous areas of the Mtzkheta – Mtianeti region.
The project is supported by Czech Aid. Last year there started a cooperation between Czech organization Agora CE and Agro Stud Javorie (I. Bursikova and M. Kysel).
